We’ve been so lucky to be a part of an industry where we’ve met so many strong western women. Stick Your Neck Out Stories is a series showcasing women in the western industry that have really gone for it, taken risks, stuck their neck out, and embody everything Fringe Scarves is all about.
Meet Allison Wiens
Tell us why you decided to tell your ranching story through social media.
This life is a hard life, but it truly is the best life! I feel unbelievable grateful my husband and I get to raise our boys the western way.
Unfortunately, it also can be a lonely lifestyle. Early mornings, late nights, raising kiddos (sometimes feeling like a single parent), hard decisions, long days… I felt like I needed an outlet. I found Instagram and embraced the community.
I learned that I wasn’t the only ranch wife feeling like this, and even better yet, I found a place where I could share and inspire western fashion! I instantly loved my new “job” and the community my page organically created. Western fashion has always been a passion of mine; it’s classic, it’s sophisticated and everyone can obtain the look!
Why is the western industry important to you?The Ag industry is small but MIGHTY! I love the challenge not only to change people’s perceptions, but to educate as well. Knowledge is power. The more we talk about animal care, land management, the western lifestyle, the better! It gives exposure to our everyday living; making it come to life by being real and raw
How do you want to be remembered?
I would like people to remember me as the cowgirl with killer fashion and dirty fingernails (LOL!)! The term ‘cowgirl’ comes with great responsibility. You have to have a gentle heart, but a firm handshake. I want my boys to see that their mama (and all women) are strong and capable just like their daddy. We either make ourselves miserable or make ourselves strong. The effort is the same.
What's Your "Stick Your Neck Out" story?
Our cows know my voice. They eat from our hands. We are home to them. And they didn’t get that comfortable with us by us abusing them, mistreating them or not respecting them. Their time on this earth is short; they are on loan to us from God, and we should not take that lightly. There’s nothing more attractive than a big strong cowboy giggling while his cows and calves eat cakes from his bare hands. Respect and love for all livestock, that’s the true western way.
How did you find Fringe Scarves?
I first learned about Fringe because my girlfriend (Jena Knowles) was wearing one of their scarves and I loved the print! I love the uniqueness of the scarves, the quality and the girls who run it!!!
